For the first time on Nordic ground, Rameau’s masterpiece Dardanus is performed. After the fiasco of 1739, Rameau wrote in 1744 the opera that became his most performed and successful opera of his lifetime.

Venus and Amour argue about what love really is. Without jealousy, worries and suspicion, love can’t stay awake, can it? Unable to agree, they let the story of Dardanus prove who wins the argument…

The Center de Musique Baroque de Versailles hosts the Confidencen for a day where they present their activities and introduce the French Baroque in words, music and images. Here we get an insight into the French Baroque style in connection with this year’s opera production Dardanus.

Declaration of love, lamentation and letters that was never sent turned into music by, among others, Clérambault, Rameau, Handel and Roman. Our Nordic baroque star Berit Norbakken meets french Marie Théoleyre, who in a very short time has already distinguished herself within the genre. Together with the Norwegian lutenist Solmund Nystabakk, they create a captivating concert where the many faces of love are portrayed.

On the other side of the canal, France’s grandiose tones are silenced in an intimate and heartfelt beautiful song. Martin Vanberg (this year’s leading actor – Dardanus) meets award-winning lute virtuoso Jonas Nordberg. Songs and arias by Dowland, Purcell and Blow are interpreted and retold in true troubadour spirit between tears, laughter and a snaps.

This year it is 100 years since Edith Södergran died, only 31 years old. In an intimate interplay between the walls of Sweden’s oldest Rococo Theater, actor Stina Ekblad and cellist Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann meet in a program where Edith Södergran’s nature lyric poetry and Bach’s cello suites meet in a timeless universe.
