The Prince and the Wise Man
30 May, 19:30
Houman Sebghati & Dom Fantastiska Få will be visiting Confidencen with The Prince and the Wise Man. A two-act performance with hip-hop music, soul, jazz and spoken word. A legendary rapper and his band show the roots of hip-hop, with love, wisdom and unity.
On the Edge of Honesty is based on the book with the same name. The music spans 20 years and is interspersed with stories around the fire. A fairy-tale story that takes us through bourgeois neighborhoods in 70s Tehran, high-rise buildings in the suburbs of Stockholm, wisdom from Swedish government officials, mental illness among immigrant single mothers, expulsion from the royal boarding school, walls at Kronoberg prison, wild touring with hip-hop legends, bloody love drama in New Zealand, insights at the top of Kebnekaise, shut-up ashram in Östergötland, silly tussle with little popes for settlement – and peace in the Stockholm archipelago.
Declared a legend by colleagues, raised to the skies by music journalists
Houman Sebghati is the rapper who started his career in the 165 Collective, in western Stockholm during the golden era of hip-hop in the late nineties. He has collaborated with Petter, Timbuktu, Eric Gadd, Linda Pira, Ison & Fille, and many more. His breakthrough came in 2006 with the album Reptilernas Planet.
Swedish Television’s Per Sinding Larsen has praised Houman’s latest album for being mature hip-hop, and Sveriges Radio’s music journalist Mats Nileskär has called the music from the nineties “declared cult”.
Dom Fantastiska Få consists of Mathias Siroiney (vocals), Henning Ullén (piano, acoustic instruments), and Jonas Liljeberg (flute, saxophone).
The debut novel På gränsen till ärlighet – The Prince and the Wise Man was released in 2025 via Stevali förlag.
