Two strong scenic universes, choreographed by Charlotta Öfverholm and Philip Berlin, meet in a dance evening that moves between physical virtuosity, musicality and poetic precision.

In a Cage of Light

Charlotta Öfverholm is approaching 60 and continues to dance tirelessly. Explosive, fearless, and with a scenic intensity, she carries theatrical power and musical expressiveness. Uncompromising on stage – as always,

In a Cage of Light begins with Öfverholm on a trapeze. She wallows into a combative and intimate choreography with Jordi Cortes, legendary dancer from DV8 Physical Theatre, where the limitations of the body and the fragility of life are put at stake. Lauri Antila’s raspy bass and Tobias Hallgren’s death-angel figure with a whip create a dramatic counterpoint.

With explosive presence and strong scenic poetry, the work examines age, vulnerability, and resilience – in a way that affects, touches, and remains.

“… in its honesty, one of the freshest things I have seen performed on stage in a long time.”

Stockholm 59° North + Philip Berlin

s o f t w a r e is a new choreographic work by Philip Berlin, created together with Stockholm 59° North – soloists from The Royal Swedish Ballet. The title derives from a poem by from a poem by the poet and artist Eugéne Sundelius von Rosen.

The piece unfolds as the dancers’ work aims to move swiftly and lightly, expanding; every impulse changes the direction. Energy evolves through postpunk extreme precision, raw hypnotic repetition, and ecstatic transgression. But what happens when there is a glitch?!

Philip Berlin is based in Stockholm and works with dance in Sweden and internationally. He has presented his works in Stockholm at Dansens Hus, Modern Dance Theater and Moderna Museet, and the Oslo Opera House. Berlin also collaborates with director Ada Berger and has created choreography for the completely sold-out Orosdanser at Stockholm City Theater and the comedy Liv och död Strömquist at Dramaten. Berlin also collaborates artistically with Cristina Caprioli on a recurring basis.
